Bruce Elden Trimble

KAYSVILLE – Bruce Elden Trimble, age 48, beloved husband, father, son, brother, teacher, coach, and friend, died peacefully on March 8, 2013, at his home in Kaysville, Utah, after a long battle with colon cancer. Bruce was born in 1964 in Bountiful, Utah, to Floyd Edward and Eldeen Watson Trimble. He graduated from Woods Cross High School. He served an LDS mission to Albuquerque, New Mexico, Spanish-speaking, spending most of his time in El Paso, Texas. In 1989 he graduated from Utah State University in Industrial Technology Education and began his teaching career at Sand Ridge Junior High School in Roy, Utah. He worked there for five years, teaching Spanish and shop, coaching girls’ basketball and volleyball, and assisting with football and baseball. In 1994 he transferred to Clearfield High School, teaching Spanish and wood shop, his true passion. He built cabinets for the district construction houses for many years. He coached girls’ basketball and volleyball for many years, and assisted one year in track and field. He was very devoted to his players and students, and their friendships extended well beyond their school years. In addition to teaching, he has been the Athletic Director at Clearfield High School for the last 12 years. Bruce enjoyed sports and was often watching, coaching or participating in any way he could. In December of 1997 he was diagnosed with colon cancer. One month later Bruce met his eternal companion, Julie Horn, and after a short courtship they were married in the Bountiful, Utah, LDS Temple on June 10, 1998. Two years later, they moved to Kaysville, Utah, loving the community and people that surrounded them. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jenessa and Brianna, who were the light of his life. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first and foremost Bruce loved the lord. He served in many positions of leadership, including High Priest Group Leader, Stake High Councilor, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and Ward Executive Secretary. He served in the ward presidencies of the Sunday School, Elders’ Quorum, and Young Men’s organizations. Bruce was a master craftsman with wood, building kitchen cabinets, furniture, and many other beautiful works of art. If you could think of a project, he could build it out of wood. He leaves a legacy of his creativity in many homes and buildings. He was a handyman who could fix anything and gladly used his time and talents to serve everyone around him, never letting his illness slow him down. Bruce was also a master craftsman with people. He loved, and was loved. He enjoyed cracking jokes, teasing, and making others laugh. Bruce loved his family and they were the joy of his life. He is survived by his wife, Julie, and two daughters, Jenessa and Brianna; his mother, Eldeen; one brother, Brent (Maria) Trimble; and three sisters, Tammy (Craig) Israelsen, Patty Trimble, and Becky (Shaun) Stahle. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Edward Trimble. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Fairfield Chapel, 550 N. 100 E. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to the administration, faculty, staff, and students of Clearfield High School; the members of the Meadows Ward family; the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists in Layton; and Robert and the staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice.
