Bruce White
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Bruce White, 76, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Wilford Bernard and Annie Margaret McIntyre White, but he grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. He met Henry Ford when Henry made school visits.
Bruce married Gaye Cordell Cook on October 18, 1956 in Willard, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington Terrace 10th Ward where he was a High Priest.
He loved his country and served with the U.S. Air Force for 22 years in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His greatest love came from working with the SR71 (Blackbird) Planes.
Bruce loved sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings Hockey Team. While living in Concord, California he supervised 750 boys and girls in primary softball. Bruce loved his boys and his grandchildren and was glad to have three great-grandchildren. Bruce was always able to find the humor in crisis situations.
Surviving are his wife, Gaye, of Washington Terrace; sons, Alan (Lael), Castledale; Richard (Ronna), Corinne; David, Pleasant View; Phillip, Washington Terrace; Scott (Kathleen) White, Washington Terrace; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Bruce in death were his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Richard Wade officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
