Bryan Reed Murdock

Bryan Reed Murdock, 38, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021. He was born on December 29, 1982 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Gordon Murdock and Lisa Lund. He was preceded in death by his mother Lisa, his older brother Mitchel, and many other wonderful family members. He graduated from Fremont High School in 2001. He loved participating in Football and Wrestling. He only wrestled for a couple of years, but quickly became one of the best in the state.

Bryan married his high school sweetheart and was sealed for eternity to Alicia Engstrom on May 4, 2004 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Bryan always found a way to work smarter and could figure out anything. He had a unique ability to rise to the top of any situation. Over the years he owned his own business, worked in the oil fields for Haliburton, and was the most talented sales executive wherever he worked from door-to-door sales to large tech companies such as Gild, Impartner, and Pluralsight.

Bryan was a man of many talents. He loved music. It was part of him his entire life. He was always singing and recording songs. His voice was indescribably incredible! He could perform like no other with so much confidence and energy. He really knew how to get a crowd going! He was one of the finalists in one of the last rounds of American Idol, and he placed in the top 10 in the state of Nevada for a singing competition. There was no one quite like Bryan. To know him was to love him. Anyone who ever met him or knew him, instantly loved him, and felt his love in return. He was hilarious, and he lit up every room he entered. His presence was pure joy. He was a tender-hearted soul and cared about everyone.

Bryan felt life should be enjoyed to the fullest. He was so fun and there was never a dull moment when you were with him. He loved going on adventures with his family and friends. He loved going fishing with his brothers Dan, Johnny, Jed, and stepdad Doug. He loved to travel and spent many times in California with his wife and children, Costa Rica, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. He loved the time he spent with his dad and Terumi in Texas, Japan, and St George.

Bryan is survived by his eternal family, Alicia Murdock, and children Judson, Caden, Wyatt and Lucy; his grandfather, Sumner Reed Murdock; father, Gordon Reed Murdock (Terumi); his brothers, Johnny (Tessa) Murdock and their children, Maximus, Roman, and Tatum; Jed, (Chelsea) Craner and their children, Jaden and McKay; and Ty Murdock; and his sisters, Judy (Dan) McKenzie and their children, Benson, Gracie, Kimball, and Cubby; Sadie (Will); and Daisy Murdock, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bryan loved his children and nieces and nephews with all his heart. Family was his world!

He was always kissing the children’s cheeks and making sure they knew how incredibly loved they were and are. Bryan had some amazing people in his life. We’d like to recognize two of those special souls, Bryson Poll and Candice Jordan who shared the last two years of his life with him and were very dear to his heart.

He once wrote them, “It is healing to be kind, it is transformative to love. We already have what we need…the wisdom, strength, and confidence. The awakened heart and mind are always accessible, here, now, always. We are just uncovering them; we are rediscovering them.”

He left a legacy of love, joy, and tenderness to this World.

Funeral services will be lived-streamed and available on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. by scrolling to the bottom of Bryan's obituary.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
