Bryan Thomas Whitesides, 39, passed away July 14, 2011 due to complications from pneumonia and respiratory failure.

He was born January 19, 1972 in Salt Lake City to Van Thomas and Suz-Ann Critchlow Whitesides. He was raised in Kaysville, Utah and graduated from Davis High School. He went on to earn a B.A. Degree at the University of Utah. Bryan served an LDS Church mission in the Podova, Italy Mission. He had a gift for connecting with the people of Italy.

Bryan was an honest and sensitive person and was always willing to help others. He was a gifted and talented marketer, having worked in various management positions throughout his career. He traveled the country extensively. He was a loyal friend to all who were privileged to know him. Bryan loved classic rock music, the outdoors, biking, fishing, skiing, hiking and he especially enjoyed spending time at the family cabin. He was an avid Scouter, having earned his Eagle Badge.

Isabella Gentile, his niece, wrote the following about Bryan: Bryan was full of life and his sometimes sarcastic view on it was fantastic. He passed on so many valuable life lessons to his nieces and nephews, and they all feel his purpose was always to watch over his family, which he can now do easily. She feels he has spoken through her these last few days and she has felt his strong spirit. Bella is currently recording all she can remember about him. His passing is helping everyone come closer together and realize what they have. He will be loved and missed dearly.

Bryan was a natural comedian. The laughter and joy he brought to our family gatherings will truly be missed. He was our Jim Carey. From an early age he provided sensitivity that was beyond his years. He always stood up for the underdog and brought home every stray creature he would happen to find.

He is survived by his sweetheart, Shannon Taylor Anderson and her two children; his parents, sisters Bethany (Allen) Williams of Escondido, CA; Emily R. Gentile, and his brother Joseph (Jennifer) Whitesides of Keller, TX; eight nieces and nephews and step-grandfather, Lewis T. Nielson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood LDS Chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood Road. Friends may visit family Tuesday evening, July 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main, and from 9:30 to 10:30 on Wednesday prior to services at the church.
