Budd Griffiths

Budd L. Griffiths “We Love You Dad” Our dear husband, Dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Budd L. Griffiths, peacefully left this earth on the evening of November 10, 2007. His wife and children were by his side. The passing of this sweet, kind and generous man brought tears of sorrow and joy to his family who will remember him always. He was 89 years old. He has been a great example of wisdom, integrity and generosity to all of us. Dad was born April 19, 1918 in Smithfield, Utah to Arvel and Gladys Griffiths. He met his sweetheart, Alice Harris in high school, where they both played in the band. They were married in the Logan temple on August 27, 1940. They have shared 67 wonderful years side by side. Together they raised three children. Dad devoted his life to his family, and they loved him in return. He was very proud of each one of them and their accomplishments. Dad instilled in each of us the value of family and education. Dad was an active member of the LDS church and faithfully served in many positions throughout his life. He retired after a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Treasury Department. His work ethic was exceptional and he was admired by many. Dad was a member and President of the Toastmasters for many years and was very well spoken. Among the things Dad loved to do were golfing, tennis, reading and traveling. When his health declined he watched any sporting event available on TV, and spent his last afternoon watching one game on TV and listening to another on the radio at the same time. He and Mom had the opportunity to travel the world and see many wonderful sights during their lifetime. They have been blessed with good friends and neighbors. His favorite place to be was at the family cabin, Cottonwood, in Wyoming. We will always treasure our wonderful memories from the cabin. Dad, on behalf of your family, thank you for a lifetime of love. Thank you for making Mom so happy; thank you for the memories that we treasure so much. You have forever touched our lives and will be deeply missed. Budd is survived by his sweetheart and the one he loved with all his heart, Alice, his children Brent (Sue, deceased) Suzanne (Wally) Fowler and Janet (Jerie) Davis. His grandchildren Brad, Julie, Paula, Alan, Brian, Lorri, Cami, Carrie and Cindi and 27 great grandchildren – with another due in January. Budd was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bart. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Bountiful 31st Ward Chapel, 585 E. Center St. Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 14th from 6-8 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and at the church from 9:45-10:45 am prior to services. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Dr., Bountiful. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
