Bungon Cook

Bungon Cook, 78, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 14, 1937 in Bangkok, Thailand.

She worked in the Gift Shop on Utapao, Royal Thai Air Force Base where she met her husband Roy Cook of 47 happy years. Roy was stationed there during the Vietnam War. They were married on April 10, 1969 in Rayong, Thailand.  She immigrated to the U.S. in July 1969, where she has resided since.

She was an Air Force wife and traveled with her husband to many locations, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Thailand, Utah, Florida and back to Utah.

Bungon loved cooking Thai food for her family, sewing and was passionate about collecting nick-nacks.

She was a loving grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband Roy Cook, two daughters, Sherry Sessions, Kaysville; Orasa Maphies, Layton; one son, Thailand; two sisters, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
