Byron James Glover Jr.
Byron James Glover Jr. departed this mortal life on April 7, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 9th, 1930 in Farmington, Utah; son of Byron James Glover Sr. and Ellen Steffensen Cannon. He was known by family and friends as Jim.
Jim grew up with two younger sisters; Gwen Lee Kempner and Jeanette Glover. His life was engaged in farming, milking cows, caring for horses, dancing and hiking the hills of the Wasatch Front. He learned to be a caretaker of the earth and God’s creations. He was an expert gardener and a walk through his garden was a must and joy for family and visitors alike.
Dad attended schools in Centerville Utah and graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, UT. He continued learning throughout his life through the books he loved so much. Dad was a member of the LDS Dixie Ward and was blessed by his associations with its members and their loving supportive service of weekly meals, spiritual and emotional support over the last three years. His testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ was sure, and is a rock upon which his family will be eternally blessed.
Dad supported his family by working at Hill Air Force Base and the Family farm in Central Washington. He retired from the base in 1996 known as “The Griz”. This name stuck in the ranks of his family because he was known for his warm bear hugs and his teasing Grrrrr greeting. The motivation for his life of hard work was his family. And he left behind a huge posterity who honor him for that. His descendants are: Nine children, 40 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Children are: Corinne Jensen, Sheridan, MT; Jenene (Marlin Dahl) Layton, UT; Byron James Glover III (Dixie Glover) Malad, ID; William Lynn (Teresa Glover) Mesa, AZ; Lori (Brent Law) Kaysville, UT; Melody (Jonathan Felt) Spanish Fork, UT; David Blaine (Heidi Glover) Morgan, UT; Darrell Leon Glover; Daniel Max (Rebecca Glover) San Tan Valley, AZ. His surviving sisters are Gwen Kempner, Riverton, UT and Jeanette Glover, Salt Lake City, UT.
Dad was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia Steinert Glover, his parents, son-in-law Dennis Ray Jensen, and grandchildren April and William Lynn Glover Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
