C. LaVell Lythgoe
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Coy LaVell Mikesell Lythgoe, 82, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at her home.
She was born June 29, 1927 in Morgan, Utah, a daughter of Samuel Alfred and Virginia Leone Johnson Mikesell. She was raised and educated in Morgan graduating from Morgan High School.
On April 12, 1947, LaVell married Earl George Lythgoe in Morgan. Earl preceded her in death on July 23, 2002.
LaVell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Primary President for over 10 years. LaVell was also the Relief Society President for 10 years and served on the Relief Society Stake Board. She fulfilled her calling at the Mt. Ogden Care Center. She was a Primary Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, and taught the Blazers, Trekkers and Guide Patrol. LaVell became the adopted grandmother to numerous full-time missionaries over the years.
She was an avid Jazz fan and enjoyed calling Ward members to commemorate their birthdays.
Family and friends will cherish the handmade crafts (crocheting, sewing and painting) that she lovingly shared with them. LaVell was an elemental influence, giving whole-heartedly to everything she undertook. She lived and loved with her complete heart and soul. Her heart and her life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and anyone else who touched her life.
The family has eternal gratitude for the loving and compassionate service and care offered by Hospice and the Washington Terrace 8th Ward Bishopric, Relief Society, and many others. The family would also like to express their love and thanks to Judy for her constant love and companionship.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters, Larry E. (Joan) Lythgoe, Randy L. (Valerie) Lythgoe, Clare J. (Danielle) Lythgoe, Paul J. (Marjean) Lythgoe, Judy L. Lythgoe, Georgia M. (Quinn) Willis, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Gerald (Georgia) Mikesell, Scott (Denise) Mikesell, two sisters, Carlene (Otto) Doffee, Peggy (John) Grossnickle and one sister-in-law, Shauna Mikesell.
Preceding LaVell in death were her husband, her parents and two brothers, Darrell Mikesell and Wendell G. Mikesell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 8th Ward Chapel, 350 West 5100 South, with Bishop Tyler Anderson officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
