Cal V. Holbrook

April 9, 1920 ~ June 22, 2015

Our loving father, Cal V. Holbrook, passed away at the age of 95 on June 22, 2015 joining his wife Elizabeth Louise Hatch Holbrook.

Cal was born on April 9, 1920 in Chesterfield ID, a son of Jonathan Earl and Mamie Call Holbrook.  On the family farm, he learned to be a hard worker and carried those skills into his adult life.  He served in the military during World War II.

Cal married Elizabeth on September 29, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple.  Together the two of them raised eight children, Ron (Pat) Holbrook, Dean (Susan) Holbrook, Terry Holbrook, Ray (Lori) Holbrook, Kent Holbrook, Jan (Jeff) Barnes, Joan Holbrook, Mary (Jeff) Bybee.  Over their marriage, the family expanded to include 22 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren with two babies on the way.  Dad counseled us to love each other and fulfill our family and church obligations.

He is survived by six of his children, his grandchildren, one sister Wilda Phelps, and one brother Max Holbrook.

Our father was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He gave service through many callings including several different bishoprics. Cal’s favorite calling was teaching Gospel Doctrine.  He was a loyal and giving home teacher for many years. He often looked after the widows of the ward making sure that their needs were met.

He was preceded in death by Elizabeth, son, Kent; daughter, Jan; four siblings, and one son-in-law.

Cal’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Washington Terrace 4 th Ward, 4760 South 200 East.  Friends may visit the family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
