1933-2015
Bountiful, UT - Cal A. Jorgensen (82) passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 in Salt Lake City of a massive stroke.
Cal was born January 12, 1933 in Emery, Utah, the son of Nephi and Violet Petty Jorgensen. He married Gayle Blackburn, also of Emery, on April 26, 1955 in the Manti Temple. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.
Cal was a master mechanic. He worked for Diesel Service & Sales in Salt Lake City for over forty years. He served in the Utah National Guard. Cal loved his family. His favorite tradition was the annual family trip to Colter Bay. He also loved snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, boating, and 4-wheeling with his family. He loved the “Utes” football and basketball. Cal touched many lives. He was loved as a husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend.
Cal is survived by his wife, Gayle, of 60 years, his children: Lynne (Brent), Julie, Kent (Cherisa), Brian (Trudy), Brad (Kollette), his brother, Eldon (Shirley), and his twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers (LaVell, Jerry) and sisters (LaVee, Zenna, Kathleen).
Cal’s family wishes to thank the staff at the University of Utah Hospital and CareSource hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2015 at the North Canyon 6th Ward, 965 E. Oakwood Dr. Friends may visit family Thursday, November 19 from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Friday from 12:30-1:30 pm at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Emery cemetery, Saturday, November 21 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
