Calvin Lewis Cheshire
Calvin Lewis Cheshire, 87, of Centerville, Utah passed away peacefully on April 18, 2012, holding his sweetheart''s hand with his faithful companion, Little Bear, by his side. Cal was born to Reuben and Golda Stowell Cheshire in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 10, 1924. Calvin married the love of his life, Rose Ann Cutler. They met many years ago when Cal worked at a service station in Salt Lake. He would go down to Tops Drive-in after work where Rose Ann spent time with friends. He asked her if she wanted a ride in his car and that was all it took to form a love of 52 years that would last through eternity. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bountiful Temple. Cal''s second love at the time was his red 1952 Pontiac. His passion for cars and motorcycles never left him nor did his desire that they be spotless and untouched! Cal graduated from East High School. He went to work at Kennecott when he was 16 years old. For most of his career at Kennecott, he worked as a crane operator and became a master heavy equipment operator. His work ethic was uncompromised as he gave his employers his very best working all day at Kennecott and the service station at night. After retiring from Kennecott, he drove school bus for the Salt Lake School District. He took such good care of the children he took to and from school. He got to know each of them over the years and loved them all. He was a remarkable man who took care of those he loved. His parents and his sweetheart never went without and their every need was met. His son, Rodney and his wife, Mary, and their three children were very important in Cal''s life and he enjoyed so much the times they spent together. He and Rose Ann had many wonderful adventures together, which included numerous motorcycle trips around the country. The stories from those adventures made for great listening on summer nights when friends stopped to chat. Cal and Rose Ann loved to sit in their front yard to play with Little Bear and visit with neighbors and friends all summer long. He will be missed. They spent their married life in Salt Lake City, Sugarhouse, Bountiful and Centerville, where they have resided the past 20 years. Cal was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints. He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann; brother, Robert Cheshire (Elaine); sister-in-law, Bernice; son, Rodney Cheshire; grandchildren, Rodney Cheshire, Jr., Bryan Cheshire and Chelsea Doyle (Gabe); six great-grandchildren, and one great and faithful dog, Little Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Cheshire and daughter-in-law, Mary Cheshire. The family would like to thank caregivers, Carlie and Mary, for their tireless care of Cal during his lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11am at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E. where friends may visit 9:30 a" 10:30 am prior to services.
