Calvin C. Lott
OGDEN a" Calvin Clair Lott, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was 73 years old.
Clair was born March 31, 1937 in Fielding, Utah, to Calvin Moore and Leora Nelson Lott. His stepfather was John Earl Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather along with his sister Judy and stepbrother, Arlen. His surviving brothers and sisters are Valarie (Cy) Wight; Blaine (Sherlene) Lott; Glade (Sandra) Lott; and Gaylene (Darrell) Love; and his stepbrother and sister, Lewis Jones and Darlene Larsen.
Clair was so proud of his six children with first wife Nancy: Monte (Gena) Lott; Rae Lene (Jack) Briskey, Nanette (Richard) Owens; John (Sandra) Lott; Ron (Nova) Lott; and Katrina (Ronald) Peterson. He spent the past 23 years with his wife Karla and welcomed three stepchildren into his family: Jan (Bud) Stanger, Doug Stephens; and Suzy Stephens. He also loved being a grandpa to 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Up until his late years when illness kept him home, Clair was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, holding many callings; in the Elders Quorum presidency, home teacher, stake missionary, and scoutmaster.
Clair was a hard worker throughout his life, driving trucks for Gateway and Wasatch Distributing then later working for Ogden School District, starting out as a carpenter then advancing to Foreman and Supervisor of Building and Grounds.
Outside and in the mountains was where Clair loved to be, whether working in his acres of vegetable gardens or hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was also very artistic, being able to draw, paint, and create beautiful, award-winning woodwork. Music was another favorite pastime, especially dancing and listening to old-school country music. As a life-long learner, he loved to read and share what he knew through animated, in-depth stories.
To Clair, there were not many problems he could not solve, as long as he had chocolate in one hand, a Diet Coke in the other, and his dog Sadie sitting on his lap. He will be missed by many.
