Calvin Dee Putnam
LAYTON – Calvin Dee Putnam, 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born October 24, 1935 in Ogden, the son of Lester and Kathryn Nelson Putnam. He was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1954. He resided in Idaho Falls from 1975 – 1978 and has made his home in Layton since 1980.
Calvin married Bonnie Dustin on August 9, 1969 in Victor, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple.
Calvin served ten years in the National Guard.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served a two year mission in Texas. He held various callings throughout his lifetime but his favorite callings were those which included music.
Calvin was an excellent salesman who was proud of his successful career.
He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed helping his wife Bonnie with her candy business. He loved electronics and gadgets and was excited by any new technology.
Surviving are his wife Bonnie, children: Leara (Lynn) Bernhard, Taylorsville; Kristy Osborne, Idaho Falls, ID; Kerry (Judy) Osborne, Evanston, WY; Dana Osborne, Las Vegas, NV; Christine (Jeff) Alvey, Harrisville, UT; Shane (Michele) Osborne, Henderson, NV; Shawn L. Putnam, Salt Lake City, UT; Jamie (Neil) Inscore, Rock Springs, WY; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and brother Boyd L. (Carolyn) Putnam, North Ogden.
Preceded in death by his father, one sister Suzan Putnam, nephew David Putnam and one grandson Christopher Osborne.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Creekside Stake Center, 1480 W. Phillips, Kaysville. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Bonneville Dialysis and Farmington Bay Dialysis for the many years of tender care given to Calvin. Thanks also to the many professionals at McKay-Dee Hospital for all the care and consideration given.
