Captain Robert Warren Micken (USN Ret.)

Captain Robert Warren Micken (USN Ret.) died Monday, July 21, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born July 30, 1945 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Charles and Mary Micken. He graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. and a Master''s Degree. He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy in December of 1967. He loved his thirty years of service in the U.S. Navy where he served upon various ships around the world, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Bob was currently the senior NJROTC instructor at West High School where he loved working with his cadets. Bob enjoyed traveling and camping, especially our family vacations. His favorite vacation was our trip to Alaska in 1997. He loved spending time with his family whether it was a family vacation across the country or a quiet Sunday afternoon drive up to the mountains. He always enjoyed every moment he had with his family.

He is greatly loved and missed by his close family, especially his wife of thirty-four years, the former Leslie Hilma Shaw, and his three children, Christina, Cynthia, and Kyle (Marisol), his father Charles Micken and his brother Thomas (Laurie) Micken of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, nephews Matthew, Phillip, Erik and Scott, his nieces Kelly, Alex, and Aprille, his brothers-in-law Clifford (Sandra) Shaw and Dana (Sue) Shaw and his sister-in-law, Jean Shaw. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and his brother-in-law, Walter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 4 p.m. at the Hill Air Force Base Chapel. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. at the chapel.
