Carl Joseph Bernert

Carl Joseph Bernert passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on September 6, 1938 in Loup City, Nebraska to Carl Julius and Blanche Adelia Mooney Bernert. Carl was raised and grew up in Nebraska on the family farm.
On January 30, 1959, Carl proposed to his sweetheart, Margot in Ludwigsburg, Germany after he had spent the better half of two years pursuing his lifelong partner. They later moved to the United States where they continued to raise eight children.
He served in the Army and later worked for Massey Ferguson as a transport coordinator. He also worked for Hill Air Force Base.
Carl and Margot enjoyed taking long drives through the mountains together. They loved spending time in their daughter’s store or going out to eat with family and friends. Carl also enjoyed participating in auctions and Ebay.
He is survived by his sons Robert (Dawn) Bernert and Jason (Sylvia) Bernert; daughters Jacklin Biedermann, Marion (Ellery) Kapp, Anita (Lyle) McComb, Cornelia (Mark) Scoffield; son-in-law Jay Marquardt; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and his favorite cousin, Butch.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter Susan Marquardt, sister Cornelia Vocke, and grandson Travis.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Lindquist Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 pm at the mortuary.
