Carl D. Buehler OGDEN - Carl D. Buehler, 88, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at his home in Ogden. He was born April 7, 1922, a son of John A. and Isabelle Hogge Buehler. He was the seventh child born in a family of nine children. He attended Washington Elementary and Washington Junior High School. He was elected student body president of Washington Junior High School in 1938. While attending Ogden High School he was active in business, music and sports. He was admiral of the S.O.S. men’s social club. He was captain of the Ogden High School R.O.T. C. band, a member of the men’s accapella choir, and co-captain of the 1940 Ogden High School state champion basketball team. Carl married his sweetheart, Ruth Mary Purdy, September 25, 1942. Ruth preceded him in death. He married Christine Turnbull Jensen on April 7, 1993. While attending Weber College during the fall of 1942, he joined the Army Air Corp Cadet program. He was stationed at Shepherd Field, Texas, Oklahoma A & M College, CTD (Stillwater, Oklahoma), classification center at San Antonio, Texas. At the classification center he underwent tests, both physical and mental to qualify for Officers candidate school. He chose navigation and received orders to report to Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, for training. In April 1944, he graduated from navigation school receiving his commission and navigator wings. He received orders to report to Roswell, New Mexico, where he received his bombardier wings and taught elementary navigation. He received orders to report to Columbia AFB, Columbia, SC where he joined his B-25 crew for combat duty. Ruth traveled with him from Stillwater, Oklahoma, to his many bases ending in Columbia, SC. In the fall of 1945, Carl was discharged at Gowan Field, Boise, Idaho, and returned to Ogden. He joined the men’s retail clothing business. In 1966, he was named general manager of Buehler-Bingham. In 1971, along with two associates, John Branz and Rod Dunn, Buehler-Dunn & Branz was opened. This was a fashionable men’s clothing store in Ogden for 19 years. Carl retired December 31, 1990. Carl is survived by his wife, Christine, seven children: Douglas (Marilyn), Barbara (Ross) Messerly, Larry (Darla), Gary, and Jo Ann (Richard) Daniels, all of Ogden; Gina (Randy) Robins, Lake Tapps, WA; two stepsons and one stepdaughter, Robert (Ruby) Jensen, Houston, TX; Jeffrey (Gayle) Jensen, Ogden; Janet (Rick) Larson, Centerville; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren. Carl is also survived by one brother, Robert, Ogden; and one sister, Jean Bradshaw, Colorado Springs, CO. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Isabelle Buehler, first wife, Ruth on August 24, 1991, his son John, August 13, 2009, three brothers, John, Gerald, and Clyde Buehler and three sisters, Emma Taylor, Evelyn Nelson and Virginia Buehler. Private family services will be held. Cremation under the direction of Lindquist’s Crematory. Inurnment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Special thanks to his caregivers at Applegate Hospice and Home Care and Mt.
