Carl William Downing, Sr.  1933-2016

Carl William Downing, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2016.  He was born April 14, 1933 in Danville, Illinois.  He was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed.  Carl loved his family, his country, talking to his uncle Walt daily, bargain hunting, fishing, and taking care of his animals.

Carl served for 20 years in the USAF Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a Master Sgt. at Nellis AFB.  He then served 18 years as a Las Vegas Metro police officer.  After retirement from Metro, Carl and his wife lived in Cedar City, Kaysville, Huntsville and Farmington, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Oren and Willetta Ellen Downing and his son Joseph Earl Downing.  He is survived by his wife Sharon Ann Ball Downing, his son Carl William (Tani) Downing Jr., his daughter Cheryl Lynn Downing Steinke, his grandchildren Dorothy, Charlie, Kate and Erin, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, and his sister Jeanine Easley.

Services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Street. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the funeral.
