Carl Rosslyn (Ross) Kearl, 91, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2013 at the George E. Wahlen Veteran''s Home in Ogden, Utah.

He was born July 24, 1921 in Laketown, Utah to David and Mary Kearl, the fourth son of six boys. Losing his father around the age of 5, Ross worked hard to help support his family on his uncle''s ranch until age 19.

Ross married the love of his life, Anna Jeanne Boyd on February 6, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the Navy in World War II from 1942 to 1945 after which the couple lived in Ogden where he became involved in the grocery business. Upon moving to Clearfield in 1947, Ross owned and operated Homer''s Market for 27 years. Over the years they became the parents of three children.

Ross was very active in Clearfield City affairs as the Founder and President of the Chamber of Commerce, City Councilman and Parks and Recreation Superintendent responsible for developing several parks. He received many honors for his service.

In 1971 the couple moved to Kaysville, spending many hours creating a beautiful home and backyard to enjoy with family and friends. Upon retirement, they traveled extensively in their motor home and also traveled to many foreign countries. They built a cabin at Bear Lake which became a family favorite for many years, Horseshoes his specialty!! Other favorite pastimes were square/ballroom dancing, skiing and golf.

Ross was an active, faithful High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served over the years in numerous callings, blessing the lives of many.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, two daughters, Renee Wilcox (Wesley) and Annette Kearl, a daughter-in-law Cheri (Steven), and a brother, David Kearl. Ross enjoyed his relationships with eight grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven, his father, mother and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

Throughout his life, Ross was devoted to serving his family, country and community. We as the family value and have been blessed by his example. We also express heartfelt appreciation to all those who served and loved him while a resident at the George E. Wahlen Veteran''s Home.
