Carl Walter Maw

July 4, 1945 ~ June 17, 2017

Carl Walter Maw, 71, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 of complications from Agent Orange. He was born on July 4, 1945 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Lawrence and Florence Poorte Maw.

He loved the freedoms we enjoy and followed the example of several family members and served our Country in the Military.

Carl married Gayle McKinney on August 16, 1963 in Wyoming.

He worked at the IRS for 16 years, drove a truck for Parsons, worked at DDO, before retiring from Hill Air Force Base.

Carl had a great memory, was a perfectionist, was very generous, and yet stubborn.  He enjoyed building and had countless ongoing projects. He loved to teach and encourage education; he especially enjoyed teaching his boys how to fix things.  Most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, John (Tami) Maw and William (Lorie) Maw; son-in-law, John Shephard; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Kent.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Ann Shephard; parents, and brothers, John, Neil, and Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
