Carl David Moss
Carl David Moss of Clearfield passed away April 12, 2015 at the ripe old age of 94 from natural causes.
Carl was the first of three sons, Carl, Lyle and Lloyd K. Moss born to David Hyrum Moss and Sarah Knighton Moss in Ogden, Utah.
Carl graduated from Ogden High School in 1939 and then attended Weber College for two years. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific until his release in 1945. Prior to his departure, he married Donna Yeaman in October 1942 and they were blessed with two children; Scott (Terri) Moss and Carla (John) Barton. They separated in 1962.
Carl followed in his father’s footsteps upon his return, to the Ogden Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroad where he was an electrician retiring forty-two years later.
In October 1967, he married Maxine Jensen. This marriage was a bond that lasted nearly five decades until Maxine’s passing in 2012. Maxine brought four children to this union; Betty (Morris) Parker, Vicki Jensen, David (Jeanene) Jensen and Leslee Larsen. Together they have 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Carl was a gentleman’s gentleman!! You never opened a door of any kind when he was around. He loved hunting, fishing, waterskiing, bowling and was a fan of the Utah Jazz.
Carl is survived by his children and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, both brothers and his second wife Maxine.
To honor Carl’s life, please join us for funeral services on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment Syracuse City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Adam Nebeker for his care of Carl and appreciation to John Hansen and the staff at Apple Village Assisted Living Center where he enjoyed his last three years. Special thanks to Cathy, his hospice nurse for the help and compassion she showed to us during Carl’s last days.
