Carl Jay Robinson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 25, 2013. He will be fondly remembered as a meticulously hard worker who enjoyed the blessing of a beautiful yard and garden. He worked just as diligently in raising his family and giving them the example of how to treat his eternal companion. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Franklin, Idaho. Carl was the youngest of nine children born to Louis Perley and Lillie Jane Robinson. He graduated from Preston High School in 1950 and later served in the U.S. Army for 4 years.
He married Shirley Larsen in 1955, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.
Carl and Shirley lived in Sunset, UT, but now call Pleasant View, Utah home. He worked for Thiokol Corporation as an accountant for 36 years before retiring in 1995. Carl was very passionate about his family. His happiest times were with his sweetheart Shirley and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He and Shirley enjoyed participating in many activities together. They spent their leisure time snow skiing and attending numerous sporting events which included several years as Utah Jazz season ticket holders. Carl will always be remembered as the cook for weekly Sunday dinners surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many individual callings. He found his greatest joy in serving with Shirley as service missionaries at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the last eight years.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife of 58 years, Shirley L. Robinson of Pleasant View, Utah; four children, Kim (Shelley) Robinson of Ogden, Utah, Debbie (Ron) Kunzler of Pleasant View, Utah, Karen (Kent) Eckstein of Harrisville, Utah, and Cary (Jennie) Robinson of Harrisville, Utah, his faithful four-legged son "Duke"; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary (William) Lewis of River Heights, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Perley Robinson and Lillie Jane Atkinson; seven siblings: Georgia (Lloyd) Bair, Maurine (Albert) Bateman, Donald (Wanza) Robinson, Jack (Ruby) Robinson, Howard Robinson, Louis (Loene) Robinson and Vada (RJ) Spackman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant View Utah South Stake Center Chapel, 3602 N 500 W, Pleasant View, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at McKay Dee Hospital. A special thank you is expressed to those doctors, nurses, and staff within the hospital Intensive Care Unit for their loving care and kindness.
