Carl Clapier Swenson

January 4, 1929 ~ March 4, 2015

Carl Clapier Swenson, devoted husband and amazing father, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015. He had been living with his daughter the last five years.

He was born January 4, 1929 in Ogden, Utah the son of Carl Lionel Swenson and Julia Olive Clapier. His step-father was Orlo “Ole” Allen Ingles.

On August 19, 1950, Carl married Nadine Inza Morley in Ogden, Utah. She preceded him in death May 28, 2004.

He was the beloved father of Jodie Jean Swenson, Tracie Lucille (Vern) Lichfield, and Carla “Carly” Nadine Swenson. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Joshua Morley Lichfield and Cody Jared Lichfield, Kadee Michelle (John) Hughes and Logan Dale Moulding. Dad also enjoyed the love and antics of five great-grandchildren, all Hughes, Ian Hehl, Jack Swenson, Eva, James Edward and Lillian “Lily” . They loved to sleigh ride and explore Dad’s incredible yard and gardens. Brent Mayberry came to help snowblow and became part of our family.

Dad was raised by his grandparents, John David Clapier and Martha Marie Combe, whom he adored and admired.

Dad graduated from Ogden High School as Senior Class President, he also attended Weber College before joining the US Army. In the Army, he was a Combat Photographer, Public Information Writer and Sharp Shooter in the Headquarters 7th Infantry Division and received the award of the Bronze Star Medal.

His main career was at Hill AFB as a computer specialist and manager. He was a great outdoors man and hunter, but his favorite pastimes were woodworking, raising tropical fish, being a master gardener, and fly fishing. He even taught classes on fly tying at Weber College.

Dad had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. Dad was a kind, honorable man who always did right by everyone.

Private services were held.
