Carlos Marion Bergeson
August 10, 1927 ~ December 30, 2015
Carlos Marion Bergeson, our loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on December 30, 2015, at his winter home in St. George, Utah. He was born in Smithfield, Utah, on August 10, 1927, the son of Abraham Marion and Asia Humpherys Bergeson. He was raised in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School and Utah State University. He married Shirley Ileen Livingston on September 23, 1952. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 20, 1954.
Mr. Bergeson served his country twice – during World War II as a teenager and again during the Korean War. He was a naval supply clerk on the USS Point Cruz stationed in the Far East – Japan, China, and Korea. He continued to serve his country for 38 years as a Management Analyst at Hill Air Force Base.
Mr. Bergeson was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the bishopric, the Sunday School Presidency, and as the Young Men’s Superintendent, as well as other assignments.
Carlos and Shirley loved to travel and did so for 20 years after retirement. They cruised to Alaska and through the Panama Canal. They spent a month in the Mediterranean area – Rome, Greece, Turkey, Jerusalem, Cairo, etc. They visited all the capitols of Northern Europe, as well as spending time in Russia and China. His was a life well lived.
Mr. Bergeson is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Karla Bergeson, Jan (Brad) Metcalf, Bruce (Christine) Bergeson, and Rebecca (Andreas) Sandberger; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Amy, Heather, and Elizabeth Bergeson, Rachel and Ryan Metcalf, and Christoph and Kai Sandberger. He is also survived by his sister, Rosalind (Troy) Thornton, and by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at The Forest Green Ward, 1401 Country Hills Drive, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
