Carma Rae Cook Kent

SYRACUSE - Our beloved mother, grandmother, mama, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away September 5, 2009, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Carma was born to DuWayne and Leone M. Cook on May 8, 1951 in Great Falls, MT. She spent her years growing up in Sunset, and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1969. She had just finished organizing and planning her 40th year class reunion.

Carma married Glen Jones and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kimberlie and Polly, and adopted son, Kent. Carma and Glen were later divorced after many years. Carma''s world revolved around her family, her girls, and her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She would always let you know what each member of her family was doing, and you would know all about them before you met them. Even if you weren''t related she would make you feel like you belonged and were part of the family. She was always willing to help anyone no matter what the task.

In 1993 she married Robert Kent, he passed away in May 2003, and she gained an extended family of children, grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. They had many adventures together and traveled the world.

She was involved in many organizations; she was one of the founding members of the Caring Connections, University of Utah, and helped on the Olympic Committee to get the 2002 Winter Games in Utah, at Primary Children''s; "Grandma Carma" Room, and the Crimson Club.

Through her amazing talent as an interior designer, she had a wonderful career and helped many of her family and friends with beautifying their homes and offices.

Carma is survived by her mother, Leone; daughters, Kimberlie Baker, Polly (Travis) White, both of Syracuse, UT; Kent (Shelby) Briggs, Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Kira, Kris, Kylee, Talsha, Makyln; and one great-granddaughter (Autumn) that Carma will get to hold and kiss before she sends her down from heaven to her mother in December; sisters, Carol (Sharm) Yamamoto, Sherry (Vance) Cox; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and a sister, Susie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Syracuse South LDS Stake Center, 3065 South Bluff Road, Syracuse, UT. Friends and family may gather Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Our family would like to express our love and appreciation to her lifelong friends Ilene and Rick. Also to Lisa Harrison and Lisa Lasseter from Hospice of Utah for their wonderful care, support and love.

We are absolutely heartbroken. For those of us lucky enough to have known Carma she radiated a contagious exuberance for life, grace, professionalism and also personified the very definition of a true friend. To say that she will be missed beyond words is an understatement.

Rest in peace our beautiful mother, grandmother (mama), daughter, sister, aunt and friend until we are reunited again.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be sent to Caring Connections, 10 South 2000 East SLC, Utah 84112.
