Carmen V. Martinez Miera was born June 27, 1918 in Espanola, New Mexico to Elfido Vigil and Marina Martinez. She was raised in New Mexico and educated in Lafayette, Louisiana at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and Convent.
She married Frank J. Martinez on October 5th in Reno, Nevada and together they had four children. Frank died in 1985. On June 10, 1989, Carmen married Ubaldo Miera.
Carmen was a devout Catholic throughout her life.
She worked as an accountant for several downtown businesses and also volunteered her time to work vigorously on several committees to help with the initial funding to construct the original St. Joseph Catholic High School.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Ubaldo; a son, Ernie Martinez, and a daughter, Lou Ann (Ken) Kamigaki; six grandchildren, Tricia, Travis and Derek (Lori) Hartzell, Ken (Lynnette), Kelli and Jon Kamigaki; five great-grandchildren, Kacie, Mike, and Kadie Kamigaki, Nathan and Eastin Hartzell. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Anna and a step-son, LeRoy Miera. She has eight brothers; Elfido, Leo, Ray, Ross, Sam, Joe, Danny, and Pete Vigil; one sister, Lydia Martinez.
Carmen was preceded in death by two sons, Ross and Francis Martinez; one brother, George Vigil; one sister, Lela Lopez.
The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the staff, nurses and CNA''s at the Mt. Ogden Health and Rehabilitation Center who treated our mother with love and respect, also to Lifepath Hospice Services for their dedication and professional care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church, 2360 Adams Avenue.
A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., where Holy Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the St. Joseph High School Alumni Association, 1790 Lake St., Ogden, Utah 84401.
