Carol Dawn Bailey Beck

Carol passed away at her home on Monday, September 2, 2013. Carol was born on November 24, 1931, in Monticello, Utah, to Kenneth R. Bailey and Reta Page Bailey. She attended the local public schools and graduated from Monticello High School in 1949. She married George Behunin. As a young married woman and mother of a small daughter, Pamela, she contracted polio, which left her permanently paralyzed. After months of therapy and effort, she was able to return to her family and to care for them from a wheelchair. Further effort made it possible for her to walk with the aid of leg braces and crutches. Although paralyzed, she gave birth to another daughter, Patrice.

After a few years, she was divorced from her husband; which left her with the full care and a large part of the financial support of her two girls. Although severely handicapped, she attended LDS Business College and graduated from Cosmetology College in order to improve her marketable skills. For many years she worked a demanding full-time job, then came home to put in several hours as a beautician in order to supplement her income and provide for her girls.

Carol moved to Kaysville, Utah where she met Garth Newman Beck. They were married in the Bountiful Temple on August 12, 1994. They spent ten enjoyable years together before Garth died, January 31, 2004.

Carol was a member of the LDS Church where she held many callings, which gave her great joy.

Carol loved her family dearly. Surviving are her girls Pamela (Mark) Nielson and Patrice Behunin, and step children, Marsha (Michael) Black, Brenda (Bruce) Baker, Marlowe Beck, Shanna Brown, Jill (Jeff) Evans, David Beck, and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Larry (Geraldene) Bailey, brother-in-law Lynn Adams, and sister-in-law Jolene Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenneth Bailey, and sister, Reta Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
