“Together Again”

Washington Terrace – Carol Smith Cheshire, 85, passed away on August 20, 2017 at her home of cause’s incident to age, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 31, 1932 in Ogden, a daughter of Conrad Alma Smith and Nellie May Compton. She was raised in Ogden Utah and was a 1949 graduate of Weber High School.

Carol married Sylvan Eugene Cheshire on March 10, 1951 in Salt Lake City, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on September 2, 1955.  She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington Terrace 6th Ward. She served in the Relief Society as a secretary and a teacher.of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington Terrace 6th Ward. Carol worked at Hill Air Force Base as a clerk/typist before starting her family.

She loved sewing, cooking, drawing, crossword puzzles, reading, and caring for her cats. One of her favorite things to do was to make homemade candy during the holidays for her family and neighbors.

Her favorite sayings were: "What will be, will be" "If it don't matter 50 years from now, it don't matter now" "It's just another bump in the road".

She was an amazing and wise woman. She gave so much to others. She was patient, kind, and loving to whomever walked through her door. Her presence on Earth will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her daughters, Julie Cheshire, Susan Cheshire, Cindy (Mike) Whitten, and Sandra (Don) Calhoun; five grandchildren, Melissa (Liji) Jinaraj, Krystal Whitten, Shaylynne (Tyler) Bott, Cody Whitten, and Dalen Whitten; two great-grandchildren, Mika Jinaraj and Annalise Whitten. Also surviving are her two sisters, Joyce (Bill) Weaver and Dott Nyland.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan E. Cheshire; her parents, Nellie and Conrad Smith; and siblings, Neita Smith Christensen, Arliene Smith McGowan, Wayne Alma Smith, Beth Smith Turner, and Sturle Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
