Carol Lemmon Crane

April 5, 1960 — January 17, 2025

Carol Lemmon Hovey Crane was born on April 5, 1960. She was the only living daughter of Spencer L. Hovey and Hortense Lemmon Hovey. She was the youngest of five children.

Carol attended Layton Elementary, Central Davis Jr. High and graduated from Layton High School and LDS Seminary in 1978.

Carol worked as a Clerk at Hill Air Force Base where she was awarded the Department of the Air Force Award for Notable Achievement in 1986 and the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Federal Handicapped Employee for the year of 1989.

Carol married Randy Dean Crane on June 22, 1991. They made their home in Layton, Utah. Randy’s daughter Lacy lived with them for several years. Carol thought of Lacy as her own daughter and considered Lacie’s two children as her grandchildren. Randy passed away on August 30, 2006. Carol and Randy were sealed together in the Bountiful Utah Temple on Feb. 4, 2012.

After Randy passed away Carol moved into The Beehive Home in Layton and lived there for many years. She later moved into the Gables Assisted Living of Brigham City and then Season’s Assisted Living in Farr West where she passed away on January 17, 2025 at the age of 64. Carol made many wonderful friends at each of these facilities. The family would like to thank all the amazing staff who assisted and helped Carol in each of these facilities. We would also like to thank Cascade Springs Hospice for the care and help they rendered to Carol.

Carol was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions in the Layton 4th Ward. She loved to read novels, watch TV and play games on her I Pad. She especially loved all the dogs she had over the years, with Matty being the last who passed away in April 2024.

Carol is survived by brothers Sam (Gale) Hovey, and Michael (Janet) Hovey, and a sister-in-Law Patricia Hovey.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Randy, her parents, a sister Joanna, a brother Chadd, and two sisters-in-laws: Kathy and Janeane.
