Born February 26th, 1939 to Thelma and Albert Spanton, Carol passed from her earthly bonds into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father February 10th, 2018.
While growing up, she was close with her sister Geanne and her brother’s Glenn, Burt, Johnny and Dale. She graduated from Granite High School where she shared her love for life with the school and community dancing with the pep club. She enjoyed music, played the viola and even mastered the art of tap dancing in her formative years.
She married and was sealed for time and all eternity to her high school sweetheart, George L Greco February 1st, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Through their life together, they raised 4 children, David (Jan) Greco, Robyn (Craig) Connelly, Nancy (Robert “Bob”) Smalling and Christopher Greco.
Mom served in numerous church positions, but loved most the children in Primary. She had a great love for sports playing softball and volleyball year after year with the same group of ladies, affectionately called the “Moms and Misses”. She coached Kaysville’s first girls’ softball team to complete a season garnering a sportsmanship trophy in the process. She enjoyed challenging her kids to a game of horse on the driveway basketball court on a regular basis, and was never opposed to beating them either, “It built character.” Her love of cameras and the “surprise” photo opportunities have left us with a legacy of family pictures to smile at for a lifetime.
Mom touched many lives through her work at Harry’s and Barnes Bank. Everyone that met her found themselves changed by her kind heart, gracious smile and beautiful eyes. She always treated people with respect and honesty and they loved her for that. She enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, sharing her laugh, her sense of humor and loving words. She cherished her visits with Eric and Gaylene Raynor, the “Street Walkers”, George and Clara Snell, Elizabeth Watson and Orie Stracke.
Carol is survived by her loving husband (boyfriend), George, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren along with a surviving brother, Dale (Julie) Spanton and a large loving family. Waiting to greet her at the veil are her parents, sister and three brothers who she dearly missed.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the team at Brio Hospice for their loving care of mom through her journey. The respect shown and comfort given by Brio’s staff, Kathy, Kellie, Trish and Hannah made our final journey with mom more peaceful.
At mom’s request in lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to The Huntsman Cancer Institute or Utah Alzheimer’s Association.
