Bonnie Gunnell, 93, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother died October 2, 2012.

She was born June 11, 1919 in Buhl, Idaho to Amasa Ira and Burnetta (Nettie) Brady Cox.

During her early years, she lived in Buhl, ID, Readyville, ID, and Arimo, ID. In 1928 the family moved to Soda Springs, ID, where Bonnie finished the elementary grades and graduated from high school. She participated in Band, Orchestra, Operettas, and sang in the Church Choir. She played violin and also sang for many funerals. She attended the University of Idaho at Pocatello, Idaho and received scholarships for violin and voice. She played in the Pocatello Symphony Orchestra, a violin trio and had leading parts in college opera presentations. After graduating with a Teaching Certificate, she taught school in Lava Hot Springs, ID and Soda Springs, ID.

In April 1941, Bonnie married Reed Gunnell, from Grace, ID. They moved to Layton, UT, and later settled in Kaysville, Utah. They had two daughters, Gay and Luanne.

Very soon Bonnie became involved in church and community activities. She also enrolled in classes at Weber College and completed her college education graduating with a BS Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. She taught 3rd grade and later started teaching Orchestra in Bountiful, UT. She traveled to seven elementary schools and taught many beginners to play violin, viola, cello and string bass.

After retiring in 1980, Bonnie and Reed spent winters in Mesa, AZ.

Bonnie became very involved with Genealogy. She has written a number of family histories. She also studied scriptures and enjoyed reading about the General Authorities and their histories.

Bonnie was active in the LDS Church and held numerous positions during her lifetime.

Throughout Bonnie''s life, she believed in setting goals, studying and learning!

In 2007, when Bonnie''s health became a problem, her daughter Gay suggested they join forces and all move to a new home in Syracuse with handicap conveniences. She and Reed lived their remaining years with Gay and her husband Roger.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Gay (Roger) Scharp, Luanne Nave, 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Lynette Murray, and her sister-in-law, Sarah Jones Gunnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dawna Harris, and a brother Kent Cox.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of IHC Hospice for their thoughtful service.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
