Carol Isabelle Brett Hatch, 88, passed peacefully in Layton, Utah surrounded by her husband and children on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Mom, we love you and miss you, and we are so happy you are no longer in pain.
Carol was the fourth of five children born to Kennedy Culbertson Brett and Rhada Corein Mortenson on February 28, 1936. She was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. Carol was a self-proclaimed tomboy who dominated the playground in various school contests, usually placing first and second. She was the lead baton twirler in her junior high marching band, where she sang and was a cheerleader. She attended Ogden High School, participating in intramural sports, Pep Club, and Acappella choir.
Carol married Albert George Little on June 17, 1955. They had three children: Kim, Karla and Troy and later divorced. She married Rodney Marvin Hatch on October 23, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah and welcomed a son, Jeremy, 8 years later. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 29, 1974.
Carol was a woman of many talents. She was shy, kind, determined, and feisty, but above all, she was creative. Her artistic abilities were a testament to her vibrant spirit. Her dedication to her faith was unwavering, and she was an avid BYU fan. She was always willing to serve those around her. Carol was a lifetime, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership positions. She was a Service Missionary at the Distribution Center and volunteered alongside Rodney at the Bishop Storehouse.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Rodney, and her children: Kim Little of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Karla (Gary) Spjut of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Troy (Holly) Little of Cedar City, Utah, Jeremy (Angie) Hatch of West Valley City, Utah; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild soon to be born, and a younger sister, Kaye Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, older brothers, Jerry and Dean Brett, and an older sister, Beth Campbell.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion given to our mom over the last three months. The dedicated caregivers’ support and kindness have been a source of immense comfort during this difficult time, and we are genuinely appreciative.
