Carol Musick Moss

Carol Musick Moss, age 74, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Davis Hospital in the presence of her family after a lifetime of overcoming type one diabetes.  She lived her final years in the supportive environment of Country Pines Retirement Community where she enjoyed close friends and winning Bingo.

She was born November 14, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida to Captain Kenneth Floyd and Mary Cherry Musick.  Carol grew up a naval officer’s daughter and loved this life.  She was proud of her father who was a graduate of the Naval Academy and was a squadron leader in World War II.

She was a painter and dreamed of pursuing higher education in art but instead married another Navy man, Gary Leo Cunningham and raised two children whom she loved deeply.  She proudly served her country as a navy wife through two Vietnam tours and several other military actions for 25 years.  After retirement, she settled in Utah and was later divorced.

She was a faithful member of Clearfield Community Church for 38 years.  She loved her work as a Stephen Minister where she represented the church caring for the sick and hurting.  She had many friends, loved to square dance, golf, garden and camp.  She made life fun for all around her especially her grandchildren who were the joy of her life.  She was active and eager to get all she could out of life, teaching Bible studies in her home up until her death.

She is survived by her son Sean, her daughter Connie (James), grandchildren Luke and Kylee, her sister Marcia, her brother Kenneth (Diane) and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law William and an infant daughter Christy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield Community Church, 200 S. 500 E., Clearfield.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
