SYRACUSE a€" Carol Winn Simmons, 80, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013.

She was born February 14, 1933 in Smithfield, Utah the daughter of Fred Milton and Lavinia Hyde Winn. Carol was reared and educated in Smithfield, Utah. She resided in Ogden and later moved to Syracuse where she lived for the next 30 years.

Carol married Lamont Nelson in 1951 in Logan, Utah. They later divorced. She married Glen Simmons on July 22, 1965 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1982.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carol loved traveling, shopping and being with her grandchildren.

Surviving are sons, Kenneth (Nancy) Nelson, West Point; Chuck (Sondra) Nelson, Layton; Michael (Dori) Simmons, Clinton; Ed Simmons, Clinton; daughters, Carol Lund, West Jordan; Joy (Jeff) Caudill, Kuna, ID; Teresa (Dayne) Johnson, Bluffdale; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, sisters and husband Glen.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Syracuse City Cemetery, 1290 So. 1000 W. Friends may visit family Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
