Our beloved "Nana" passed away peacefully on September 16, 2013, due to heart complications. She is survived by her husband, Harry E Spear, Jr., daughter Gail P. Collins of Layton, UT, and son Robert Spear of Tulsa, OK. Surviving siblings include her brother Herbert McKinney and sister Janet DePuma, both of Tuscon, AZ.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Carol was a wonderful "Nana" to her 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian), Beth (Rob), Chris (Tamara), Josh (Kirsten), Christina (Jesse), Michelle (Chris), Lauren, Stephen, Chris, Jason, T.J. and Alec as well as 20 great grandchildren. Her hobbies included watercolor, travel, shopping, cooking, and serving her family. She was born and raised in Staten Island, New York, and although she later spent much of her life in Oklahoma, she never lost her New York accent, much to the delight of everyone who knew her. At age 14 she married Harry, to whom she was a faithful and loving companion for 58 years. At age 15 she gave birth to Gail and over the next few years gave birth to two sons. The family moved to Tulsa, OK, in 1969, where they lived until 2004 when she and Harry retired to Tucson. Harry and Carol moved to St. George, UT, in 2009 and lived the last two years in Layton, UT, with their daughter, Gail and husband Rick.

Carol was preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth and Roy McKinney, sister, Jesse and nephew David DiSarro, mother Florence McKinney and youngest son, Timothy Spear, who passed away in 2011.
