CAROL ESPERSON STOKER

Carol Esperson Stoker, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away at age 99 on August 24, 2021 after suffering a stroke. She was born on July 28, 1922 in Midvale, Utah to Carl Ferdinand and Olive Hughes Esperson.  She was one of five children.

If you asked anyone to name things they know about Carol, they would say her love for the Gospel, love for her family, her great sense of humor, always loving anything pink, and her love of chocolate and Harvest Peach Yoplait yogurt!

Carol grew up the Midvale area.  Her parents encouraged her musical talents.  She played the flute and piccolo and violin.  She attended Jordan High School and was part of the marching band.   She played the violin in a lot of musical events in the community.

After graduating from Jordan High School, she attended BYU for two years and played in the school orchestra.  When she returned for her third year she couldn't find housing, so she transferred to Utah State University where she met the love of her life, Lyngby A. Stoker.    After they were married, they moved to Clearfield so he could help his father on the farm.  She was happy on the farm raising their family.  She loved being a mom and a housewife.

Carol was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many positions.  One of her favorite memories was when she and her husband were called to be temple workers for 6 years, until Lyngby got sick and they had to stop.    She was a caretaker for him for 7 years until he passed away in 1998.

Carol is survived by her son, Dee (Jolene), Dixie, and Lynette, 18 grandchildren, 47 great grand children, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Clinton, sisters Virginia, Ruth and Bonnie, and two sons, Jerry and Kelly.
