Our loving mother, Carole Thurgood Garlitz, returned to her heavenly home, February 25, 2025, after her family spent time talking with her, holding her hand, and kissing her cheek with immense love.
She was the third child born May 23, 1943, to Russell Thurgood and Mary Charlton with the most darling smile and curly hair. It became evident early on she had the love and talent of music and let it shine over the years participating in school choirs with the most beautiful soft alto voice and playing the piano and organ in church with such ease. It gave her such peace.
If you were fortunate enough to know our mom, you could not help but fall in love with her kind, soft spirit. She was a strong woman of faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and lived it to the fullest.
She is survived by her siblings, Ronald Thurgood (Bobbie), Connie Wright, and Stephen Thurgood (MaryLynn), and her six children; Teresa Himmelberger (Gordon), Stephen Garlitz (Lorna), Dale Garlitz (Alica), Alicia Van Egeren (Quentin), Stacy Roberts (Ryan), and Greg Garlitz (Marcy). Along with these children, she enjoyed 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Russell Thurgood and Mary Charlton, brother Dennis Thurgood, and grandson Dacota Case.
Our mother was a breast cancer survivor, so in lieu of flowers, we ask for any donations to go to The National Breast Cancer Foundation https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/
