Caroline Sully

Caroline Sully, born February 19, 1946 in Brunssum, Holland to Elsa VanderStappen and Merle S. Sully, died peacefully on May 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Caroline grew up in Ogden, Utah, the oldest of five children. She was a feisty, free spirit, always ready for the next big adventure. She was also very compassionate and caring. She loved animals of all species, particularly dogs. She loved to travel, having lived in South Dakota, Washington State and California in the late sixties. She had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and ‘junkin’, collecting glassware and unusual antique pieces.

Caroline was proud of her Native American heritage (Sioux), as well as her Dutch lineage. Her laughter and wit will be greatly missed.

Caroline had no children of her own, but she was instrumental in caring for and loving her nieces and nephews, whom they lovingly called “Auntie Line.”

She is survived by brothers Merle (Susan) Sully, Layton, Utah and Gene Sully, Columbus, Ohio, and sister Sandy Sully of Roy, Utah who cared for Caroline prior to her becoming a resident of Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother Rex Sully, and nephew Buddy Howe.

Special thanks to the entire staff at Heritage Park Care Center for giving Caroline excellent care that extended her precious life. Also, thanks to Roy City Paramedics who transported Caroline to dialysis 3-4 times a week; she knew them all. Thank you to the ICU staff at Davis Hospital and Medical Center and the team from Rocky Mountain Hospice for the incredible care they gave in her final hours.

Per her request, there will be no viewing. Graveside services will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary.
