Carolyn Holmes Fleming
December 6, 1948 ~ August 7, 2017
Carolyn died on August 7, 2017 after giving colon cancer a run for its money.
Carolyn was born on December 6, 1948 to Ida Nell Holmes and Russell Holmes. She was raised and educated in Ogden, Utah with her siblings Gaylene (Gary) Thomas, Jerry (Cookie) Gibson, and Marla (Bob) Barlow.
Carolyn married Kent E. Fleming in 1969. Together they had four children. They later divorced.
Carolyn had the heart of a detective; she always asked too many questions for her kids’ comfort. She was excellent with numbers and had a lifelong career working in banking and for the IRS. Carolyn loved the sunshine but hated sunscreen. She loved to cook and feed people; her favorite ingredient was butter (okay, fine mom, it’s margarine). Carolyn was outspoken; you never had to guess what she thought about most things. She loved wooden roller coasters, Diet Coke, Fritos, laughing loud, eating lemons as if they were oranges, and her family. She was a mom and grandma before all else.
Carolyn is survived by her siblings; her children, Natalie Fleming (Mark LaFayette), Rika Fleming (Pete Allen), Sharadee Fleming (Dajun Heaps) and Trent Fleming (Kate Wagner). Carolyn is also survived by her grandchildren, Preston, Chandler, and Jessica Allen and Declan Heaps. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Nell Holmes and her granddaughter, Nataya Fleming.
