Carolyn Blood Lakey passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Washington Terrace, Utah. Carolyn was born on March 3, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to her parents Donald Robbins and Therma Ellis Blood. She grew up in Ogden and attended school there. She was an outstanding student at Ben Lomond High School. Having skipped a grade, she graduated at the age of 17.
She married James LeRoy Lakey on November 16, 1956 in the LDS Logan Temple. They lived there for a short time and also lived in Las Vegas for about a year, then back to Utah in Roy, but ultimately returned to their hometown of Ogden. The couple soon started their family and had four beautiful children, Steven James (Wendy) Lakey, Mike Dee (Nancy) Lakey, Shanna Kay Cummins and Greg Alan (Michelle) Lakey.
While raising her family, she worked for the Weber County School District, first as a secretary at Roy High School. She later worked at South Ogden Junior High, then moved to the District office, where she worked for many, many years – having worked as the secretary to five successive Superintendents. She retired in 2007.
Carolyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in many capacities in the Washington Terrace 10th Ward. She loved the Young Women’s organization and Relief Society. After her retirement, she was able to serve in the Ogden Temple. She truly loved the Lord and was a wonderful example to her family and friends.
She and her husband were active members of the Roy Jaycees in the 1960s. They loved helping at city activities and events and providing service to members of the community. The Lakeys loved the outdoors and spent lots of time camping, skiing, boating, motorcycle riding, and enjoying nature and more.
