Carrie Staten
1978 - 2021
Carrie Staten passed away peacefully after a long illness on May 22, 2021 surrounded by her family who loved her dearly at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
Carrie was born on April 7, 1978 in Ogden, Utah to Gregory L. Hancock and Janet Rae Staten.
After graduating from Northridge High School in Layton, Utah she graduated from the University of Utah in 2003 with a BS in Economics.
Carrie developed many skills through her work opportunities as a Radiology Facilitator at the University of Utah Medical Center and as a Pharmaceutical Rep for Pfizer Pharmaceutical, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline and as a recruiter for a college of Cosmetology. She excelled in any work capacity, but especially those involving sales or marketing.
She has lived in many places, but loved living in Phoenix, AZ the most. She loved the heat and always said "the hotter the better." She had a love of animals and rescued Great Danes.
In High School, she was the only female goalie on the Northridge hockey team. Later she took every opportunity to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs. Carrie loved playing and watching golf. She enjoyed attending the TPC Tournament in Scottsdale, AZ. She was also a devoted supporter of the Denver Broncos.
Carrie thoroughly enjoyed a good, suspenseful mystery novel.
Carrie was known for her quick and clever sense of humor and wit. She also blessed others with her tender heart and compassion.
She is survived by her father Greg (Ali) Hancock, mother Jan (J.R.) Ray, sister Michelle (Dustin) Gilbert, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and the niece she adored Monroe Gilbert. She is also survived by her step-brothers and sisters: Lindsay (Neil) Anderson, Cameron (Leah) Knighton, Jonathon Knighton, whom Carrie lived with for a time, Brandon (Brittany) Knighton, Benjamin Knighton, Emily (Jeff) Knight, Christian (Kiersten) Knighton, Abby Knighton, Christina Ray (Daniel) Oetker, Jakie Lakey and Samantha Ray.
She was preceded in death by her sister Raelynn Hancock, grandmothers Jean Staten, Shirley Covert, grandfather Howard Hancock, uncle Larry Staten and the dogs she loved so much Paris and Bosco.
Per her request, her ashes along with the ashes of Paris and Bosco will be taken to a beautiful beach.
Cremation under the direction of Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
A memorial marker will be placed at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
