Carrol L. Greenwood
August 11, 1924 ~ April 4, 2016
Carrol L. Greenwood, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2016. She was born on August 11, 1924 to Charles Franklin Photon and Bonnie Maude Nall in Willowbar, Oklahoma. Carrol accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in a horse trough. She followed Christ, served Him all of her life on earth, and now lives to serve Him in Glory.
She graduated from Public Schools in rural Oklahoma near Keyes in 1942. She was a class of all girls as the boys were serving in World War II. She was among the first girls to play Girls Basketball. After graduation, she attended and graduated from Amarillo Business College. She also attended and graduated from Oklahoma City Methodist University with a B.A. degree in religious education. After moving to Ogden in 1967, she certified in Elementary Education and taught at Gramercy Elementary in Ogden. She retired after teaching for 14 years.
Carrol married Bronston Melvin Greenwood on April 6, 1947 in Keyes, Oklahoma. She served with him in numerous Methodist Churches in Colorado and Utah. They had been married for 57 years when Bron passed away in 2005. She and Bron shared many wonderful years in retirement and enjoyed snow birding in Overton, NV. She loved being with her children and grandchildren and supported all of them in whatever field of endeavor they chose. She “adopted” all the spouses of her sons, grandsons, and granddaughters. Once they were in the family, they were her kids. Carrol’s hobbies included outdoor activities with family and friends, sewing, reading, gardening, and enjoying flowers.
Carrol was a lifelong Methodist and member of First Methodist Church since 1967. She was a member of P.E.O. sisterhood for 57 years.
Carrol raised and is survived by her three sons, Bronston (Ann), South Ogden, UT; Larry (Melinda) Richfield, UT; and Charles (Fonda) Fruitland, UT. Carrol has nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother. Her parents, two siblings, and two great-grandchildren preceded her in death.
The family wants to thank Applegate Homecare and Hospice and Visiting Angel’s for the kind, gentle, and loving care they provided to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
