Carroll Stiely Fassnacht
Carroll Stiely Fassnacht, 92, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013.
He was born May 13, 1921 in Reading, PA the son of Raymond and Minnie Ellen Stiely Fassnacht.
He graduated from Reading Senior High School in 1938. Carroll served in the 723rd M.P. Battalion from 1942-43 in World War II. He completed two years at the Reading Evening Extension, Wharton School of Accounts and Finance and the University of Pennsylvania.
Carroll married Betty Jane Shaeffer on July 4, 1942 in Elkton, Maryland. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2003.
Carroll operated his own photography business in Reading, PA for many years before moving to Miami, FL in 1968. Carroll was employed at Deltona Corporation as an accountant for 17 years before retiring in 1986. While living in Miami, he was able to indulge in his passion sailing and spent many weekends sailing his sloop "Circe" around South Florida, the Keys, and even Bimini. He lived in Miami for five years before moving to Cooper City, Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1973 then moved to Delray Beach where he lived until moving to Ivins, UT in 1999. He lived in Ivins for 10 years before moving in with his daughter and son-in-law in Layton, UT.
He enjoyed sailing, photography, reading, pursuing knowledge, loved dogs, and was always willing and ready to consume a stack of pancakes.
Surviving are his daughter Christine Shaeffer Fassnacht (John Wesley) Alden, Layton; and sister Geraldine Kauffman, West Lawn, PA.
Preceded in death by his wife, Betty and sister, Dorothy Seip.
