Cass E. Rivera, 80, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home in Layton, Utah, after a long battle with Dementia. He was born February 23, 1943, to Elia Ralph and Belinda Adeline Martinez Rivera in Weston, Colorado. Cass grew up in Ogden, Utah.
He attended Weber State College and served in the Utah Army National Guard. He worked many years at IRS then moved on to work for Weber State University until his retirement.
He had a great passion for sports, always playing baseball, basketball, tennis, golfing, and bowling. When he wasn’t playing a game, he was watching one on TV or listening to one on the radio. He was also quite the pool shark and fisherman.
We have many great memories running around ball parks, watching games and playing arcade games at bowling alleys. Life was always an adventure when we were with my dad! So many happy memories going with him to grandma and grandpas, hanging out with him and all our cousins, drinking Pepsi, listening to the oldies, pretending to drive his car, sleeping on in the car, rides in his old “Willy Jeep”. Had a great love for his nieces and nephews.
Cass is survived by his daughter, Stacy Rivera Jeffs; son, Rory (Kristi) Rivera; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Errik, Alex, Devan, and Braxtynn; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Rivera; and two sister, Erna Mossinger and Teresa Taylor.
Friends may visit with family on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
