Catherine Ann Butler

October 17, 1955 — October 19, 2024

Catherine Ann Butler, aged 69, passed away on October 19, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. Born on October 17, 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Catherine dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her country, embodying the virtues of selflessness, compassion, and hard work.

Catherine was a proud alumna of Weber High School and furthered her education at Park University. Her professional journey was marked by a distinguished career as a civil servant for the U.S. Air Force in Foreign Military Sales. Throughout her tenure, she built lasting relationships with military leaders across the globe, including Spain, Israel, Jordan, Portugal, Greece and Denmark, to name a few. Her exemplary service was recognized with numerous awards and certifications, to include recognition at the U.S. Pentagon.

Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah. Catherine was not only a congregant but also a volunteer, deeply involved in parish activities. Her personal hobbies included traveling, reading, and cherishing moments with her children, grandchildren, and her beloved cats, Mimi and Shilo.

Unconditional love was her strength, and giving to others was her superpower. If you knew Catherine, you were lucky enough to feel loved by her. She was kind to everyone, and offered help in every capacity she could think of. She was a true Christian, who always put the needs of others above her own.

Our mother was innocent in the sense that she was angelic, never having ill intent towards another one of God's creatures. Yet, she was a powerhouse of a woman. If she was dedicated to making something happen, you would not want to be the one standing in her way.

We love you, Mom.

Catherine is survived by her son, Ryan (Megan) Scadden; daughter Ashley (Justin) Daniels; grandchildren; brother, Patrick (Lisa) Butler; and nieces. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole; her parents, Lyle and Dona; and her sister, Linda.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th, Ogden, with the Blessed Rosary at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
