Catherine Eccleston
1959 ~ 2019
On Monday, September 2, 2019, Catherine Eccleston, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 60 at her home in Alabama. Cathy was born in Utah to Ted and Teresa Ridl in 1959. Cathy married her high school sweetheart, Bob Eccleston, and within a few years, they welcomed their son Bobby and daughter Amber into their family. The family moved to Virginia in 1989 where they remained until Bob and Cathy moved to Orange Beach, AL in 2009.
Cathy began her career as a social worker, then worked towards her Nursing Degree, graduating in 1997. Pursuing her new career as a Registered Nurse, Cathy worked in the NICU at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, VA. As her passion for pediatric nursing grew, Cathy accepted a position with Walter Reed Medical Hospital in Bethesda, MD, as the Charge Nurse for the Pediatric Conscious Sedation Unit. Cathy’s devotion to the profession of nursing was clear to her patients, peers, and all those who knew her.
Cathy's smile was infectious, brightening every room she entered. Known for her kindness, compassion, and warmth, Cathy was an inspiration and the heart of her family. She loved pigs, (stuffed and metal) and spending time on the beach.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Teresa, her sister Frances and her brother David. She is survived by her husband Bob, their children, Bobby and Amber, her brothers Ted and Mickey, her grandchildren Zoe and Declan, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
