Catherine Ann Hodge (Katherine / Cathy), born September 2, 1948 in Tremonton, Utah to Gwenith Marie Betenson and Robert A. Hodge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in Farr West, Utah while living at Seasons Assisted Living after battling a long illness. She was 71 years of age.
Catherine is survived by two of her children, Joseph Robert Jenkins, and Alicia Ann Garcia (Jose Garcia), her brothers Daniel Hodge (Patricia Hodge) and Michael Hodge (Geri Hodge), her sister Sue Weaver-Haskell (Merrill Weaver-Haskell), her beloved grandchildren Devin Baggs, Zachary Larsen, Dezerae Chelese Jenkins, Madison Dawn Jenkins, Sierra Catherine Jenkins, Katelyn Marie Overbaugh, Jocelyn Angelique Overbaugh, Jeremiah Benjamin Garcia, Joseph Noel Seiber, Francisco Dominic Bravo, Silvia Marie Garcia, and Eli Alexander Garcia; her best friend Faye Moran, and her cat Tutu.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents Robert A. Hodge and his wife Ruth Darlene Lamberson (stepmother), her mother Gwenith Marie Betenson, her daughter Melanie Marie Larsen, and her brothers David Hodge and Kelly Hodge.
Catherine grew up in Sunset, Utah, graduating from Clearfield High in 1966. After graduation, Catherine met and married Hans (Joe) Joseph Jenkins of Ogden, Utah. Together they relocated to Newport News, Virginia where her first child Melanie Marie Jenkins was born. Circumstances required that they once again relocate, the second time to Norwalk, California, where her son Joseph Robert Jenkins and her daughter Alicia Ann Jenkins were both born. Catherine worked in the medical field while living in California and made many lifelong friends. Catherine and Hans went their separate way and Catherine eventually remarried to John Park and returned to Utah with her children.
Catherine loved adventure, mischief and music and often combined all three with her contagious sense of humor. She loved to laugh and enjoyed sharing her humor in the company of family and friends. She had a great love for the outdoors and often joined family and friends camping and fishing. She enjoyed playing the piano, writing poetry, and working with jewelry and gemstones. Being an animal lover, she often had pets at home and for a time raised hamsters and ferrets. Her cat Tutu was her constant companion and loving friend during her time at Seasons Assisted Living. She was dearly loved by many and raised her children to be loving and accepting of others. She laid the foundation for her future generations to do the same. May she find peace at last in the arms of her loved ones.
Thank you to all the staff at Seasons Assisted Living, South Davis Hospice, and Melissa (her nurse) for all the loving care you gave her. We will be forever grateful.
