Catherine Jane Hall Schmidt

Catherine, 85, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah on June 24, 1930, to Rolla Hall and Emma Elizabeth Brockbank Hall.

She married A. Robert Schmidt (Bob), January 31, 1954. They eventually moved to Bountiful, where they raised their seven children.

Catherine loved sewing (creating or modifying patterns to fit well), crocheting (she loved making things for the grandchildren), baking (especially great rolls, pies, cookies and candies), quilting, drawing (even winning an Honorable mention in the Davis County Fair).

She worked for many years at Microbiological Research Company, until she retired. She worked her way up from sterilizing glassware until she was trained to create antibodies for viral testing kits, (a job that would require a bachelor’s degree).  She enjoyed her work.

She is survived by her children: Susan Birge, Glenn (Wendy) Schmidt, Diane (Larry) Richardson, EmmaMay Dryer (Pflugerville, TX), and daughter-in-law Rona Schmidt, 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother- J Rolla Hall (Springville). Preceded in death by husband, Bob; sons: Wayne, Gordon, and Mark; son-in-law Robin Birge; great-grandson- Tristan; and four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Brickyard Chapel 1111 East Charlton Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery at 2:00 pm under the direction of Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
