MIDDLETON , Idaho a€" On Saturday, the 6th of December 2008, Cecil returned home to be with his sweetheart Clara.

He was born August 9, 1917 in West Warren, Utah where he spent his childhood.

Cecil and Clara Marie Erskine were married March 8, 1938 and were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 22, 1949. Clara preceded him in death on December 26, 2002.

Cecil served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was wounded while engaged in combat in France. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 1, 1945.

He spent most of his life in the area around Ogden or farming in the Columbia Basin north of Pasco, Washington. He moved to Idaho in 1988 where he lived in the Middleton area until he was no longer able to care for himself. He spent the last years of his life in the Idaho State Veteran''s Home in Boise, Idaho.

Cecil had a great love for the mountains and spent many years horseback riding, fishing and hunting in them. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and spending time with family. He entertained many with his ukulele and his harmonica as he played his dancing dolls. Family was always an important part of Cecil''s life. There were no strangers to Cecil, just friends that he hadn''t yet had the chance to meet. Everyone who spent much time with Cecil, soon knew him as "Uncle Cec" and became part of his life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are five children, Karen (Dale) McDonald, Albuquerque, NM; Dennis (Virginia) Barrow, Basin City, WA; Sherilyn (Dan) Chadwick, Idaho City, ID; Marlene Simpson, Boise, ID; Kevin (Shawna) Barrow, Middleton, ID; 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Clara and his daughter, Anne Kelsheimer who died April 4, 1991.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, West Warren Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Brigham City Honor Guard.
