Cecil E. Kirk, Jr.
LAYTON a" Cecil Edward Kirk, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday October 15, 2013 peacefully in his sleep.
Cecil was born December 26, 1925 in Charleston, West Virginia the son of Cecil E. Kirk Sr. and Erna Ella Turner Voss.
He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. Joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served his country faithfully in WWII.
After his service he headed west, met and married the love of his life Blanche Forbes of Layton on June 16, 1951 and as dad said, "It was all uphill from there." Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Our dad worked as a Supervisor of Inspections at HAFB during which time he was a part time Police Officer for Layton City. After retirement he worked at Clearfield Job Corp as a security guard. Dad influenced many coaches, colleagues, youth and parents in his free time for 40 plus years officiating many games on baseball diamonds, football fields and basketball courts.
His hobbies included: coin collection, golfing, woodworking, sports, hunting, fishing, four wheeling and meeting friends at Layton Drug and Sill''s Cafe. Dad had a great sense of humor, a happy soul, loved life, was a good friend, helped many, he was kind and compassionate to all, but most important, he was the Greatest Dad Ever!
Surviving are his lucky kids: sons, Monte (Debbie) Kirk, West Point; Joe Kirk, Hooper; daughters, Patty Brown, Layton; Debbie (Gailyn) Thaxton, Kaysville; Nancy (Nick) Faulkner, Layton; Shelly (Matt) Morgan, Layton; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
