Cecil F. Stone, 84, of Chapmanville, WV, formerly of Utah was born June 8, 1932 at Indianapolis, IN, a son of the late Roosevelt and Opal Farley Stone. He departed this life on Monday, May 29, 2017 at CAMC-Memorial Division in Charleston, WV.
Mr. Stone was retired from the US Air Force, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, having obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant upon retirement. He went to work for the Civil Service upon retirement from US Air Force, retiring after 20 years. He was a member of the 20 Whitman Community Church and was known as ‘Every One’s Hero’.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Biggs Stone, daughter, Kathy Christiansen, and 10 siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Sue Runyon Stone; children, Debbie (Greg) Haigh, Cheryl (Steve) Henson, Bill Christiansen (son-in-law) spouse was Kathy Christiansen, Sherry Stone, Johnny (Ruth) Nelson, Larry (Carol) Stone, Marci Stone, Raeleane (Chuck) Darling, and Michael (Sylvia) Nelson; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Nancy Moore, Raymond Stone, and Russell Stone.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Franklin, ID Cemetery.
A Memorial Gathering was held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
